As a result, we have lots more volunteering opportunities available now! Here are examples of the positions that our volunteers undertake: VAN PORTER - Minimum commitment 71/2 hours per week (weekdays, 9am to 4.30pm). We need people to go out & about on our van and help to collect and deliver furniture & electrical goods. You need to be reasonably fit bearing in mind you will be lifting and carrying. STORE RECEPTIONIST - Minimum commitment 7 1/2 hours per week (weekdays, 9am to 4.30pm). We need people to staff our reception desk: greet customers, complete paperwork, take money and arrange deliveries. You'll need to be outgoing and have pretty good literacy and numeracy skills. Geographical knowledge of West Cornwall and cash handling experience are a bonus, but by no means essential! STORE ASSISTANT - Minimum commitment 7 1/2 hours per week (weekdays, 9am to 4.30pm). We need people to keep the store tidy and to assist our customers: sweeping, dusting, helping to carry light objects and wrapping any delicate purchases. Enthusiasm is far more important than skills and experience in this role! OFFICE RECEPTIONIST - Minimum commitment 7 1/2 hours per week (weekdays, 9am to 4.30pm). We need people to staff the telephone: give customers information about goods in the store and arrange collections. You'll need to have a good telephone manner, good communication skills and reasonable literacy skills. A basic geographical knowledge of West Cornwall is essential. OTHER TASKS - These are the major roles at SOFA, to give you a rough idea of the sorts of opportunities available.
